“The Shoe Must Go On”
Lydia Caine (CDAA)
Toronto, ON

Friday, April 28, 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

How many times have you tried to find the perfect shoes for your characters, be it dainty beaded pumps or boots? In this one day class, students learned how to construct two types of “lasts” using Apoxie® Sculpt. Using the two “lasts” they then learned to design high-heeled and low-heeled footwear with the perfect custom fit for their dolls. The perfect chance to create wonderful fantasy shoes, from glass slippers and jester bootees, to moccasins and brogues.

Lydia Caine’s earliest memories are shaped by the deprivations of German labour camps. Upon liberation she was enrolled in Kindergarten and it was there she discovered plasticine. Ever since she smuggled a small piece home, Lydia has been addicted to sculpting. Since her retirement, Lydia devotes most of her time to playing and experimenting. Creating dolls and doll related items are her favorite pastimes. Lydia is a long time member of CDAA, The Costume Society of Ontario and the Southern Ontario Polymer Guild. She is the founder of the new South Etobicoke Doll Club. Oh, and by the way, she loves shoes.
