Manipulating Fabric
Jacqueline Ward
Toronto, ON

Saturday, April 29, 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

This was the chance to learn fabric manipulation from a Master Costumer. Jacqueline shared an amazing array of hand sewing techniques to create exceptionally unique, 3 - dimensional effects on fabric. Cording, rusching, furrowing, gathering, flat appliqué and stuffed appliqué; these terms may sound familiar to many, but Jacqueline lead her students to a new level of understanding and professional expertise that will allowed doll artists of any medium to create outstanding costuming effects for their pieces.

Toronto fibre artist, Jacqueline Ward, has been designing and creating costumes and wearable art for 26 years. Many of her creations are produced for competition at Costuming or Science Fiction Conventions. She has been the recipient of numerous awards and was named feature artist in the 1992 book, The Costumer’s Art. In 1997, Jacqueline was awarded the “Lifetime Achievement Award” by the International Costumer’s Guild. Jacqueline’s designs are mainly inspired by nature and her many techniques reflect natural shapes and textures.

Everyone is already stitching.
