Sculpting a Newborn

Friday, April 28 – Saturday, April 29, 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

In this workshop students learned to sculpt a beautiful newborn baby, from it's head to it's chubby bent arms and legs with curled fingers and toes. Initially they created the properly proportioned baby’s skull of aluminum foil. Working with Super Sculpy®, they then created and sculpted the infant head with proper placement of the tiny features. Maryanne then took her students through the steps of sculpting the tiny arms and legs. They worked from a combination of real baby pictures and a template showing the front and profile of a baby’s head. At the end of the workshop everyone had everything to complete a perfectly loveable sleeping infant.

Maryanne Oldenburg has been creating dolls in porcelain and polymer clay for over thirty years.
