Beautiful Butterflies 06HDW
Deborah Colston (CDAA) Seagrave, Ontario - www.scugog-net.com/colston/

Thursday, May 10 - 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Originally designed for Deborah's award winning hat at the 2005 conference, these charming butterflies were a delight to make. Display them suspended from the ceiling or pin them to your purse, hat or lapel. The possibilities are endless. Students learned how to make the wire armature body, wrap it, make wired wings, bead and paint the face, wings and antennae. Before long these beautiful butterflies were set free and flying out of your hands.

Deborah Colston has been creating one-of-a-kind figurative art since 1993. She is equally comfortable working in cloth, polymer, stone and air-drying clay or carving. Trained in fashion design, Deborah can't think of a better place to use all her design, sculpting, painting, sewing, embroidery, beading, quilting and colour training skills than in doll making. It is the creative process that she finds so exhilarating. Deborah is an award-winning artist, a teacher and a past CDAA Competition judge.
