Dragonfly Rider 22TDW
Judy Skeel Westerville, Ohio, U.S.A. - www.skeelhaven.com/

Friday - Saturday, May 11-12 - 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

This workshop took students through the journey of creating a 24 inch dragonfly and her woodland elf rider. They created a seated figure 8 inches tall with leather gloves over wired and poseable fingers, fitted leather shoes, needle sculpted the elf's face, created believable elf ears, hand sewed a custom wig cap of Tibetan lamb and attached eyelashes and eyebrows made of hair. They learned to build a flexible wire armature for the dragonfly, shape its body and tail and embellish the dragonfly so she sparkled in the sun with beading techniques as well as a simple way to create elegant dragonfly wings.

Judy Skeel is a self taught artist who continues to learn, adapt and grow in her art. Her award winning work has been displayed in galleries and international expositions. She has taught across the country at clubs, shops and conventions as well as in her Westerville, Ohio studio for more than a dozen years. As an instructor, Judy has published articles on doll making skills, sells patterns of her own design, is currently working on a book teaching cloth doll faces and is the owner/editor of the Association for People Who Play With Dolls, an international newsletter.
